The Christmas Party Season will soon be upon us so what exactly do you buy for your daughter/grand-daughter?
Lets look at that awkward age, yes it has got younger and children as young as four are telling their parents what they want to wear! The trick is not to let them win, but let them think they have won!
This is where shopping online can have its advantages somewhat. When you take them shopping in the high street everything is laid out for them to choose from, and usually it looks like a mini teen fashion store with mini teen fashions on offer. Why do we want our five year olds dressing like teenagers? Because the high street is telling us to? Because our five year old thinks they will be all grown up if they do?
As a retailer myself, I see children of all ages walk through my shop.Primarily they are coming in to buy their new dance leotard or dance shoes being as we are a dancewear specialist retailer.But.....on entering the shop they are greeted with our very special section where they are faced with sequined fairytale ballgowns, sparkly shoes, dreamy floaty fairytale dresses, fluffy feather boas and pretty pink tiaras.
Well all I can say is if I had a pound for every child that has said "Wow!" as they walked through the door I would be a very very rich woman today. The truth is every little girl, with the odd exception of course, wants to be a princess and dress like a princess. In fact every woman does truth be known just look at the excitement in choosing their prom dress, then their fairytale wedding dress.
So why dress them in crop tops and tiny skirts? They should be enjoying the years when they can truly feel like a fairytale princess and hold onto their innocence of childhood.
For the little girl though who wants to be a little bit more grown up we recommend a pair of simple black leggings, which can be easily customised with jewels for that extra sparkle, a funky tutu and a pretty t-shirt which again be customised.Pair with some sparkly shoes and there you have a simple affordable party outfit that is suits both mums and kids!
