The Perfect Beachwear for an English Holiday

Summer is well and truly here, hope the sun is shining wherever you are. British summers are notoriously unpredictable though which is why we simply love the Mitty James childrens beachwear range, so much that we just had to have it in stock for our customers this year, and even better our children got to try it out! As you are probably aware we would never sell anything that we haven't tried and tested ourselves.

We are very pleased to see it passed the Blush Testers Panel! First we have some traditional looking children swimsuits but with fun and funky patterns on them. Nothing too grown up for young children, just as we like it here at Blushfashions. One of our younger panel members is quite a modest child so the childrens summer kaftan was right up her street, and matched her swimsuit too. Being the up and coming diva that she is this truly met her approval!

So pack up your buckets and spades, get that packed much ready, pack the new swimsuit, kaftan, and towelling cover up , slap on the suncream and don't forget your brolly and wellies and enjoy our glorious British Weather down on the Beach!

A Quick Catch Up

It seems like an eternity since we last updated our blog but it has been very busy here are Blushfashions! We have slowly changed our stock and ranges to only include higher quality items, no more bargain based cheap character costumes we are afraid. We decided some time ago that we only wanted to stock high quality costumes, and costumes that were that little bit different. We did a lot of research in our own store and the children and parents that were walking through the door seemed to agree with us.

More and more children are having parties at home now or in large church halls or community centres.Play area parties seem to be losing their popularity, at least around here they are. Its back to basics again.

There's nothing more memorable to a young child than a traditional birthday party at home. They can wear their pretty dress and sparkly shoes without fear of damaging them in a loud and busy play area! Mums can ensure that the party food is fun and healthy at the same time also.

Fancy dress themed parties are great fun too with the scope to go as far as you want really. From themed party food to themed party bags to themed party games.
We have a huge range of quality princess party dresses at Blushfashions as well as party shoes to suit every budget and even bags and purses to complete the outfit. For the more adventurous party though, we have the most gorgeous childrens fancy dress costumes you will find both online and in the high street so your child is sure to stand out as a true star at their own party!
We found these sites really useful for party food ideas and party bags

What Will Your Daughter Want to Wear?

The Christmas Party Season will soon be upon us so what exactly do you buy for your daughter/grand-daughter?
Lets look at that awkward age, yes it has got younger and children as young as four are telling their parents what they want to wear! The trick is not to let them win, but let them think they have won!
This is where shopping online can have its advantages somewhat. When you take them shopping in the high street everything is laid out for them to choose from, and usually it looks like a mini teen fashion store with mini teen fashions on offer. Why do we want our five year olds dressing like teenagers? Because the high street is telling us to? Because our five year old thinks they will be all grown up if they do?
As a retailer myself, I see children of all ages walk through my shop.Primarily they are coming in to buy their new dance leotard or dance shoes being as we are a dancewear specialist retailer.But.....on entering the shop they are greeted with our very special section where they are faced with sequined fairytale ballgowns, sparkly shoes, dreamy floaty fairytale dresses, fluffy feather boas and pretty pink tiaras.
Well all I can say is if I had a pound for every child that has said "Wow!" as they walked through the door I would be a very very rich woman today. The truth is every little girl, with the odd exception of course, wants to be a princess and dress like a princess. In fact every woman does truth be known just look at the excitement in choosing their prom dress, then their fairytale wedding dress.
So why dress them in crop tops and tiny skirts? They should be enjoying the years when they can truly feel like a fairytale princess and hold onto their innocence of childhood.
For the little girl though who wants to be a little bit more grown up we recommend a pair of simple black leggings, which can be easily customised with jewels for that extra sparkle, a funky tutu and a pretty t-shirt which again be customised.Pair with some sparkly shoes and there you have a simple affordable party outfit that is suits both mums and kids!

Halloween is Coming!

At Blushfashions we simply love Halloween! We not only love the halloween costumes and the thought of dressing up but its everything else, the carving out the pumpkins although when I was a child it was a turnip! This amuses my own children to no end. My costumes were homemade as there wasn't any to buy.Now the choice is endless. This is our third year of trading so we have a farily good idea of what children like to dress up as too! We also have the added bonus , which other internet based only sites do not have, with selling via our retail shop too to actually see what children are drawn to as they walk in the shop and what they really really want! This has enabled us to bring you only the very best for Halloween. We have the fabulous funky fairy witch, the divine spiderella dress, the luxurious velour black cat costume complete with ears! There are also broomsticks, masks and snazaroo halloween face paint sets!

I was rather hoping my twin daughtes would pick different costumes but alas, this year they both want the velour cat costume complete with facepaints, so they really will be playing tricks as I won't have a clue which one is which!

Of course I have my costume picked out too! I may even be brave enough to wear it in the shop on Halloween.I guess I am still a kid at heart too..............

Blush Fashions

We thought after having an online presence now for several years it was about time we set up our own blog! Here you can find out a bit more about the UK's best internet shopping site for anyone looking for high quality , hard wearing, childrens costumes. We boast the best selection online and we have worked really really hard to bring you only the best there is!

When I say 'we' I need to explain who we are I think.

Contrary to popular belief we are not some multi million pound company!!!! We are in fact a very humble family run business based in our delightful shop in a small town about twenty miles out of Newcastle upon Tyne.

My name is Yanine, and I started blushfashions out of the need to find good quality party dresses and dressing up outfits that weren't going to fall to bits after the second time of wearing!

I spent many an hour at the laptop working on my website, sourcing new ranges etc.

But it wasn't just me.I had a little help from my four wonderful daughters too! You see you can't choose fairytale princess dresses and costumes without a little inside knowledge, and that inside knowledge came from a thirteen old who had once upon a time lived in her disney snow white dress!, fom a 9 year old who just don't know what normal everyday clothes were apart from her school uniform and two three year olds who wanted to grow up to become a mermaid and a fairy , and three years on they still do which I think is sweet don't you?

I have watched my oldest two grow up before my eyes and maybe I am clutching onto those magical moment a little while longer with the youngest two but who can blame a mother for that ?

They have all the time in the world to gro up but for now I am ejoying letting them play in a magical make believe world, helped long by an unbeatable choice in mammies shop!

So let me now share some of our show you our world.............
